FROM THE PRIVATE JOURNAL OF A BORDER PATROL AGENT IN MARFA TEXAS
We were riding horseback only 10 miles from the border having left our trucks and horse trailers on a ranch not far from where we first saw her remains. I was the first to come upon the child, and at first I just thought it was just a kids jacket lost, slightly buried, and blowing a bit in the cold wind, but as I got closer I could see the bones of the child´s one arm and what remained of her skull. You could see strands of her long hair still visible and attached to her skull bone.
Later we would find other remains scattered likely by coyotes who had scavenged the body. We had secured a pretty large area and a forensic team came in from Austin, and they explained that the child was a five year old girl, and likely from somewhere in Mexico.
A month later two miles away we found the bones of an older child and it was confirmed it was probably the first child´s sister. Both had succumbed to exposure and dehydration. How they got there we would never come to know.

The events that led to the bones of a five year old girl found in her clothes ten miles from the Mexican border, some three hours east of Juarez Mexico, based on information from border patrol I met in Marfa Texas have become what is my hope to create a short spoken word film called THE LAST THREE DAYS OF LYDIA RAMIREZ .
The 14 minute spoken word piece will be supported by a documentary, up to an hour long, narrated by Rene Russo that chronicles the many miles we travelled to bring this film to a reality.
It will feature the many conversations we collected and will still collect that will help tell the story of our border and the brutal reality that every night defines America and fuels the volatile issues that are not as simple as we might hope they are to fix.
One thing is for certain, that to ignore the facts that the American border is a fertile ground for sex trafficking, drug running, rape, murder, slave trade, and rampant corruption is a great subject to shed a truthful light upon.
And a sign the apocolypse is soon upon us.
HERE IS THE CENTER OF MY DREAM, AND WHAT HAS KEPT ME FROM SURRENDERING AND WALKING AWAY WHICH I GET ASKED THAT QUESTION ALOT. THIS IS THE CENTER OF WHAT i DO AND WILL ALWAYS BE JUST THAT, THE CENTER OF WHAT I KNOW I CAN DO.
MY DREAM IS TO CREATE THROUGH OUR PROJECTS AN ONGOING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE KIDS IN THE BARRIOS I WILL BE FILMING IN AND HAVE TO CONTINUALLY BRING THE KIDS THERE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN THE GREAT THING IT IS TO BE FILMMAKERS AND ARTISTS AND TO HELP THEM HAVE A VOICE THAT JUST MIGHT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD SOMEDAY.
